Screen Captures: Doctor Who: The Face Of Evil
(The hall is already full when Andor enters and goes to his 'throne'. Neeva is
parading a piece of tech with four blue cylinders along the top and two pipes
coming out of the sides, whilst silently muttering his incantations.)
ANDOR: Bring it forth.
(The Doctor is escorted in. He is blindfolded with his own scarf, and his hands
are tied behind his back. His captor unwraps the scarf from his face.)
DOCTOR: Good evening. I think you're going to be very happy I came here tonight
(Leela is using a very large hunting knife to cut through the fabric that makes
up the back wall of Neeva's hut. She climbs through.
In the hall, we see Neeva waving his tech up and down the Doctor's body like a Native American Medicine man.)
NEEVA: Hi ya, hi ya.
DOCTOR: I'd be careful of that if I were you. It's an ultrabeam accelerator.
The ultrabeam accelerator is a device that was left behind by the ancestors of both the Sevateem and the Tesh who came to the planet on the Mordee Expedition.
NEEVA: See how it fears the sacred relics of Xoanon.
DOCTOR: If there happens to be a charge in there, you could transform this whole
village into a smoky hole in the ground.
Screen Captures: Lost: Further Instructions
[On-Island - We see Locke and Charlie walking in the jungle. They come upon a large hole in the ground.]
CHARLIE: Is that the hatch?
LOCKE: What's left of it.
CHARLIE: What happened?
LOCKE: Looks like it imploded.
If you check out Lostpedia for the Hatch you will find the following under the Destruction Section:
The Hatch was completely destroyed in the events of the
discharge when Desmond turned the fail-safe key. ("Further Instructions") A huge crater full of debris was
all that remained of the imploded Swan station.
In Doctor Who: The Face of Evil the Doctor told Neeva that if there was a charge left in the ultrabeam accelerator that it could cause "a smoky hole in the ground", if it were to discharge.
Screen Captures The Incident, Part 2
Note: The device that Juliet is hitting is the core of the hydrogen bomb "Jughead" brought to the island in 1954 by the U.S. Army.
Can you say ultrabeam accelerator that was brought to the jungle planet on Doctor Who: The Face Of Evil.
Screen Captures: LAX, Part 1
Note that in this instance of the Hatch being imploded it was due to the hydrogen bomb from the past. On Doctor Who: The Face Of Evil the ultrabeam accelerator didn't explode but they carried through with it on Lost.
To put it simply, LOST IS NOTHING MORE THAN A CLEVER REMAKE.
