Dogen is based upon the character Dugeen on Doctor Who. When Dugeen, is killed by Thawn,the monster Kroll makes his way to the refinery and kills with his tentacle appendages. When Dogen, is killed by Sayid, the "Smoke Monster" makes his way to the temple and kills with what look like "tentacle-like appendages."
